Vector-borne diseases like dengue and malaria are spread through mosquitoes and affect many people across India every year. In 2018, more than 89,974 dengue cases were reported in the country, with 144 deaths. This year, this mosquito-borne tropical disease has so far claimed six lives and affected 6,210 this year, according to information given by the Government in Lok Sabha on June 21, 2019.
