Axelos eyeing Govt projects for speedy execution through new management method

UK-based best practice solutions provider Axelos is planning to rope in the Government's projects for speedy execution by using its methodology in almost all sectors, a move aimed at expediting mostly the stalled projects in some key sectors which are impending the economic growth in the country, according to a top official of the company.

“We are seeing huge take-off in India for our project management methodology business. We are in talks with diversified sectors - both Government as well as private ones, including banking, insurance, automobiles, construction, IT & telecom, FMCG and others.

We have also met some key officials in these sectors and we are hopeful that our project management method will help expedite speedy and easy execution in their projects, especially the stalled ones,” the official told The Pioneer on Tuesday.

As the country is facing too many hurdles during the project execution, the Government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is making its all-out efforts to clear all stalled projects involved in all sectors, especially in power, road and infra sector.

“Our project management methodology or PRINCE 2 is a process-based approach for project management used across diversified sectors in India. I think it will help support the delivery of projects of any size, any complexity in any industry, any sector,” Cameron Stewart, Axelos Global Head, PPM Product Development, said, while launching an updated version of its project management methodology called PRINCE 2 in India in collaboration with IT management solutions provider Quint.

Axelos is a joint venture (JV) between the UK Government and Capita Plc, which aims at managing, developing and growing the global best practice portfolio, while Quint is a global consulting and training firm specialising in IT management solutions.

“PRINCE 2 is built on experiences and knowledge of people who are running projects in real life. We have around 1.5 lakh practitioners all over the world where we get maximum responses from UK and Australia. India has also huge market and we hope we will get same responses here as well,” Stewart said, adding that it is going to help for everything from preparing for conferences, to make a building or a ship or an IT system.

Explaining success rate of PRINCE 2 in India, Sunil Mehta, MD, Quint India, said, “We see huge success in India for our project management methodology because we know the complexity in any industry, be it a Government or private sector. Our aim is to deliver any sort of projects at an affordable cost with accountability involved in it.

For instance, when there is success, the credit goes to individual(s), not the team or organisation, but when there is failure, it goes to the organisation. It is only due to lack of accountability that we strictly follow in our project management practice in which we identify the individual who is really accountable for the failure.”

As per the company, the new version is designed to ensure that the project failure rate in India is less. The company has other methodologies including MSP, ITIl, and a collection of cyber resilience best practice products, RESIlIA.
