ICICI Pru bluechip returns better than Nifty in every phase

For any long-term retail investor, one of the funds which should be a part of core portfolio is a large cap fund. This is essential as large cap companies are better placed in terms of their financial performance, even during the turbulent times and otherwise. The performance of large cap companies in recent quarter (March 2018), once again proves their resilience in terms of earnings, even during the most disruptive times. As a result, large cap companies tend to provide stable returns with lower portfolio volatility.  In the mutual fund large cap universe, the one scheme that has performed well over the past three-year and five-year periods with respect to its benchmark (Nifty 50) is ICICI Prudential Bluechip Fund. Post SEBI Scheme reclassification, the only aspect which has changed for this Fund is the change in its name from ICICI Prudential Focused Blue Chip Fund to ICICI Prudential Bluechip Fund. The scheme manages assets worth Rs 16,102 crore, as on March 31, 2018. The fund emerges as a long-term solution for wealth creation as it seeks to adopt ‘buy & hold' approach in large-cap companies with a proven track record, quality management and good growth potential. Hence, nearly 90% of its portfolio consists of large companies. The fund cherry-picks high-conviction bets. It has a compact portfolio, with 50-55 stocks in recent times.

This initiative from KVIC will certainly increase the yield as well as quality of horticulture and floriculture in and around this area – which is famous for producing the best qualities of apple and chilgoza in the world,” he said, adding, “An innovative scheme like Beekeeping would surely bring a new light to the stage; what is required now is a barrage of cohesive and innovative action plan, with a motive to implement them at the earliest.”
