And, amid the famous sufi songs and Quawwalis by Nizamis and Rajasthani folk dance! All at a single carpet area in the centre of Connaught Place - the heart of ‘Dilwalon ki Dilli’! CRPF top officials awarded medals for gallantry

This year’s list of the gallant heroes is populated by  two ‘Saurya Chakra’ awardees from CRPF, the Central Reserve Police Force, namely Vikash Jakhar, Assistant Commandant and SI/GD Md. Riyaz Alam Ansari. Besides, as in the previous years, this year too, CRPF has bagged a sizable 35 Police Medal for gallantry  from out of the total 107 police medals for gallantry declared on Thursday. From out of these 35 brave-hearts of CRPF, while 27 have been selected for their exemplary courage in the terrorism -ridden J & K, the remaining 8 gallant men were chosen for their bravado against the red rebels in the Maoist-hit Jharkhand. Together these brave men of the CRPF could neutralize as many as 13 terrorists and 4 Maoists besides seizing 11 AK -47s along with other weapons. The incidents could be separate in terms of their time and space, but the single-most thread that ran through all these incidents of bravery was the steely resolve of the CRPF personnel to uphold the honour of the Motherland- a resolve that could even fly in the face of icy death! Be it braving the barrels of the terrorists, or the engineered angst of the stone-pelters in the valley or for that matter, the devilish decoys of the naxals, the CRPF brave-hearts could beat them all in their own den.
