Country’s biggest information technology firm, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) said that on back of recovery in US and Europe, the year 2014- 15 would be better than the current fiscal.

TCS’s Managing Director and CEO, N Chandrasekaran said, “2014-15 will be a better year than 2013-14 as per the initial talks that we have had with our clients. We expect a good growth overall in retail, consumer goods and services, utilities, pharma, financial services, etc.”

Talking about the impact of global recovery, he added that due to the rise in client spending in the US and Europe and growth in demand for technologies like cloud, mobility and social, mobile, analytics and cloud (SMAC) technologies, company would have numerous multi-billion dollar opportunities in revenues for the company in the next 3-5 years.

“When we started 2013-14, we had said it will be a good years and we will still stick to that. This has been a year in which normal business performance has been good. But for digital it has been a very good year,” Chandrasekaran said.

On SMAC, Chandrasekaran said, “We established a digital collaboration centre in the Silicon valley two years back and have various other investments across geographies. No doubt, SMAC presents a multi-billion dollar revenue opportunity in the next 3-5 years.”

Replying to a question asked about expanding to new markets, Chandrasekaran said, “Our US and Europe markets are performing very well and are pretty strong. As far as expanding to new markets is concerned, we are right now focused only on consolidating our operations in our existing markets.”

Commenting on the current domestic market scenario, he added that the domestic environment would continue to remain volatile for some more time. But on the longer term he feels that the domestic market has huge potential to grow further more. At present, Indian market contributes nearly 8- 9 per cent to the total revenue of the company.

“As the elections are around the corner, there would be a delay in spending and also the mix of our business in lopsided toward discretionary spending, we expect it to continue to be volatile. We have come to live with it,” he added.
