Nearly a year is about to be passed since Delhi started it's one of the most famous campaign of India “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”. After this campaign Delhi saw a serious movement where everybody came together for cleaner Delhi but in Delhi itself there are areas which are intact and don't want to learn from such movements. One of the such area is Transport Centre, Punjabi Bagh of West Delhi.
Bad roads, garbage have been overflowing onto busy Punjabi Bagh Transport centre roads, obstructing traffic and creating unhygienic conditions for over a year now.
Transport centre of Punjabi Bagh is spine of logistics industry from where all major logistics companies operates, and transport goods to PAN India. Because of illegal encroachments and bad road conditions every commuter of Transport centre has hit a pothole or open pits (approx 4-6 feet) at some point of time, and for most of people it’s an expensive annoyance to repair. Their had been incidents where people got hurt and fallen into pits and had multiple and serious injuries.
All such things causes great mess and always blocks all inner service every time. It has become a critical and relentless problem of the area now. As a result, residents commuting from the surrounding areas and people working in the vicinity are unable to reach their offices/homes timely & safely. Even, to reach the nearest metro station Punjabi Bagh & Ring Road it's takes several hours for the destination and people are helpless to stuck up in the heavy traffic jam for hours.
Garbage has been overflowing onto busy Transport centre roads, obstructing traffic and creating unhygienic conditions for over a year now, even as the local civic body’s plan to revamp the collection system has failed to take off.
More than 10000 people commutes via these service roads in the Transport Centre Punjabi Bagh on daily basis for various official and personal reasons.
There are many damaged vehicle's dumped and Hazardous scrap (Non-recyclable Waste) lying on the roads & vacant plots which creates difficulties for the genuine road users and building owners too. Besides a number of outsider trucks / Buses are also lying parked in this area for months.
The rags & all sorts of dirt & garbage are thrown by the encroachers on roads and on vacant plots as well causing great nuisance besides making it an unhealthy atmosphere and creation of breeding place for mosquitoes vis a vis diseases in one form or the other. This is creating not only traffic problem but also health problems for all citizens. A visit by the concerned official would itself explain the plight of the owners and genuine users.
In fact, just few weeks back there was a huge fire in the Transport Centre and even the Fire fighting unit had difficulty in arriving at the scene of the incident. On some days it takes almost an hour to either come into or go out from the Transport Centre to the main roads. In case of an emergency people do not know what will happen.
Even in the recent past, on 13.04.2015, Dr. Nand Kishore Garg Ji (Ex MlA of the area) along with delegation of “Transport Centre Punjabi Bagh Welfare Society” met with the honorable chairman of DDA (Delhi Development Authority) then on 22.04.2015, the top officials of DDA visited Transport Centre and also met with the delegation of “Transport Centre Punjabi Bagh Welfare Society”. Further, after the meeting, a MOM was suppose to circulated shortly but till date its pending and no action has been taken yet.
People of Transport centre are afraid from the said situations, after seeing daily accidents on roads they have started asking questions with each other that
“who would be responsible for any casualty or life loss on roadsIJ”
“On whose name the FIR will be registeredIJ
