How India Should Respond
Published on:

With the killing of 17 soldiers by the militants in the Uri sector in the Valley, the relationship between India and Pakistan has come to a tipping point. Pakistan-based militants are scaling up attacks on the Indian soldiers and this has been on the rise in the past two years. At the same time, the violent protests that has started since the death of Burhan Wani on July 8 is also continuing.

Despite several attempts by the Centre and the State Government, the young protesters are not heeding to the call for peace. The separatist leaders are not responding to the peace dialogue initiated by the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. The J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has repeatedly warned that the youth should not allow them to be used as the ‘shield’ by the militants for propelling their divisive agenda. But nothing is working it seems. Then what India should do nowIJ

At the moment, India must not exercise the military option. Because a war with Pakistan can cause the loss of both man and material for the country. But the most pragmatic solution could be the economic blockade from Indian side on the border points. And a full proof military crackdown on the militants in the State of J&K should be initiated without any delay.

All border posts and security establishments should be provided with the state of the art facilities so that our soldiers can prevent any kind of militant attack. The killing of our army men cannot be tolerated anymore and they should be armed with the latest communication technologies to track the movements of the militants. India should carefully respond to any call for dialogue from Pakistan as diplomatic efforts so far have not brought any substantial improvements in the relations between two neighbours. Henceforth, India must build up international pressure to isolate Pakistan at all global platforms.
