Telangana Government under the leadership of the Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao, popularly known as KCR, is making slow but steady progress towards the fulfillment of the dreams of the youngest state of the nation. First of all, he must work in tandem with the government at the centre instead of taking a collision a course like that of Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi. KCR should be aware of the long development trajectory that he has laid out in the beginning of the formation of his government and make maximum use of the natural resources of the state.
Appointed in December 1953, the States Reorganisation Commission which was constituted to reorganise the boundaries of the states was not in favour of the immediate merger of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana despite having their roots in a common language. However, with the strong intervention of the then Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana eventually merged into one on November 1, 1956. It seems, may be sensing a future course of differences between the two parts of Andhra Pradesh, Nehru prophetically termed the merger as ‘matrimonial alliance having provisions for divorce’. But in due course of time, Telangana finally got divorced from its parental roots and Nehru’s prophecy came true in fact.
After a long, often a violent movement causing disruption of public life and property, the historic Telangana Movement finally crystallised into a full-fledged state on June 2, 2014. Now the leadership in Telangana must deliver to its people what KCR promises to make it as ‘Golden Telangana’. Telangana is in dire need of loans to fund irrigation, infrastructure projects, Mission Bhagiratha, two BHK housing schemes for poor etc. Though KCR has unveiled an ambitious plan to move towards the centre and play a critical role in the formation of the future government in Delhi, but he must first stick to his ‘new born baby of Telangana’ which demands immediate care. The ruling TRS Government must ensure that the maximum promises made to the people are being fulfilled by the end of the KCR’s first term in office. It is expected that Telangana under KCR would be able to touch new heights in coming years. Jaya Jaya He Telangana!
