Demanding trained graduate teacher (TGT) tag and hike in pay, the association of the B.Ed teachers recruited under Zilla Parishads threatened the Government to take out a protest rally and hold agitation unless the demands are not met.
The association said that over 18,000 teachers recruited in B.Ed under Zilla Parisads across the State are now apprehending their bleak future. Even though the teachers are teaching class VIII students from 2008 after their recruitment in 2001, they are yet to receive the TGT tag and other facilities available to the TGTs, rued association president Santosh Kumar Pradhan. “While the high school teachers teaching the class VIII students with equal position and duty have been known as TGTs, the teachers recruited in B.Ed under Zilla Parisads are deprived of the benefit.
Regarding scale of pay also, the teachers are getting less amount than their counterparts in high schools. So this has spread large scale discontent among us,” lamented association secretary Ranjan Kumar Mohanty.
