Yuva Utkal Bharat stages protest against Rly apathy

Demanding completion of various railway projects in the State, the Yuva Utkal Bharat (YUB) led by its president Abhishek Joshi staged a demonstration in front of the East Coast Railway headquarters here on Tuesday.

Expressing grave concern over the delay of various project works across the State, the youth leaders said the Railway Ministry is consistently showing apathetic attitude towards the State though the railway collects highest revenue from Odisha.

They demanded completion of doubling of the Cuttack-Barang railway line in three months and construction of two more platforms at the Bhubaneswar railway station to reduce rush. They also demanded completion of doubling of the Puri-Khurda line in six months and controlling of food prices sold inside the railway stations.

As the Nabakalebar of lord Jagannath would take place in 2015 for which lakhs of people would throng Puri, the Railways needs to complete the doubling of railway lines within the stipulated time, said the youth activists. Among others, YUB general secretary Debabrata Tripathy, vice-president Sanatan Dalbehera, secretary M Sambit Das and Biswambar Mohapatra led the demonstration.
