A Clean Rourkela campaign, initiated by the Rourkela Youth Forum (RYF), got off at Bisra Chowk here on Friday and will continue for five days.
During the campaign, members of the RYF visited several shops, vegetable vendors, homes from the Bisra Chowk to the Gandhi Chowk and made them aware of the importance of cleanliness and persuaded them to do their part in cleaning their surroundings. The drive was also supported by the Rourkela Municipal Corporation (RMC).
The campaign was inaugurated by Rourkela MlA Dilip Ray in the presence of Rourkela ADM K Sudarshan Chakraborty and Municipal Commissioner DP Mohapatra.
The ADM announced to apply the Code of Criminal Procedure Section-133 against shop owners and public, who thrash garbage or spit on the road and take action against those found breaching the rule.
