Despite various awareness campaigns carried out by the Odisha police and other organisations, many youths are still vulnerable and fall prey to the dreaded Blue Wheel challenge game in the State.

A new instance has come to limelight after a youth was critically injured and admitted to a hospital after attempting to commit suicide to complete a task in the game in the Anandapur area of Keonjhar district on Saturday.

Sources said Ajay Patra (21) tried to end his life by consuming poison after completing the third stage of the Blue Whale game.

Ajay, who was engaged in a private firm in Tamil Nadu, had reportedly fallen victim to the Blue Whale game nearly a week ago. After his friends brought the matter to the notice of the company manager, he was sent back to his village in Anandapur.

Since the last three days, Ajay was mentally depressed and keeping to himself which was suspected to have triggered the extreme step.

Police investigations were yet to begin as the cops were in dark about the incident. However, it was only after the hospital authorities reported the incident that the matter came to light on Saturday.
