A youth tried to commit suicide by attempting to electrocute self after he failed in the physical test for CISF recruitment in the city on Tuesday.
The youth identified as Arvind Putel (22) of Balangir district had appeared in the test which was held at a field near airfield here. After Arvind failed in the test, he climbed atop an electric pole and grabbed a live wire.
The victim then fell down sustaining critical injuries on his hands and legs. He was rescued and rushed to the Ispat General Hospital (IGH), where he is still battling for life.
On the other hand, CISF authorities are probing into the matter to ascertain the circumstances under which he took the extreme step.
The Sector-15 police also started investigation into the incident.
