A youth was detained for allegedly trespassing into the runway of the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here on Tuesday.
According to reports, the detainee, a resident of Dumduma on the outskirts of the city, was spotted by CISF personnel roaming suspiciously on the runway.
The youth scaled the boundary wall of the airport near Khandagiri and entered into the airport premises, reports said, adding that he had reached near an IndiGo flight scheduled to leave for Delhi.
He was later nabbed by CISF personnel and handed over to the Airfield police. Investigation into the matter was underway. It was suspected that the youth is mentally-challenged.
The CISF officials have been issued a show-cause notice in connection with the incident, informed BPIA Director Suresh Chandra Hota.
