A youth was tied to a tree and thrashed severely at Kaipadar village under the Sadar police station of Khordha district on Wednesday. A video of the incident went viral on Saturday.
Though the victim was tortured for hours, locals remained silent spectators and remained busy shooting the incident on their mobile phones. Later, the incident went viral on social media. In the video, it is seen that the youths was also urinated upon by one of his attackers. They rained blows on him with a lathi, punched and kicked him. Though the victim repeatedly asked for water, nobody dared to come to his rescue.
Later, a courageous woman came to the victim’s rescue but was not able to free him from the clutches of the tormentors. Later, police nabbed one of the accused while another was absconding.
Khordha SP Ajay Pratap Singh on Saturday said stringent action would be taken against the culprits and a hunt was on to nab the absconder.
The victim, who belongs to Bangida village, had been abducted by two miscreants over some old enmity.
