While an incident of throwing acid at a woman by her husband at the MKCG Medical College campus on Thursday has shocked people all over the State, another incident of stabbing a girl by her lover inside the Jharsuguda railway station on the day added to the stories of atrocities on women by those who were considered to be close to them.

As per information, Kabita (name changed) of Pujaripali village near Champa of Chhattisgarh had a love affair with Dillip Das of her own village. But the family members of both didn’t agree to their marriage. So, they left home a few months back for Jammu & Kashmir. After staying there for some months, they wanted to come back to a relative in Rourkela.  But on Wednesday night on their way to Rourkela, they got down from the train at Jharsuguda for some reason. A dispute arose between them and they had a heated exchange of words. Then, the boy immediately stabbed the girl on her neck and fled away. It was further learnt that before stabbing the girl, the boy had given her poison mixed with cold drink. Other people at the railway station found the girl in a critical condition and informed the GRP, who rushed her to the District Headquarters Hospital. PNS “After the girl gets stabled, we will collect details from her and take action against her lover,” said Jharsuguda GRP In-Charge Manda Hansda.
