After few days’ lull, violence again struck the pilgrim city of Puri when a youth was stabbed at Marichikote Chhak on the Grand Road on Thursday night.
The incident occurred just 100 metre from the Jagannath Temple. The victim was identified as Dinesh Khuntia of Radha Gohinda Lane of Chudanga Sahi.
Miscreants stabbed Dinesh in the presence of police personnel and fled from the spot. Dinesh received incised wounds in his abdomen. He was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital but later referred to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack as his condition deteriorated.
The Town police have started an investigation into the incident. Though the exact reason behind the incident was yet to be ascertained, it was suspected that the incident might be fallout of old enmity.
