In yet another incident of the deteriorating law and order situation in Brahmapur, a youth was stabbed to death while two of his associates sustained critical injuries following an altercation at Uttaramukhi under the Bada Bazar police station on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Chandan Pradhan. The incident occurred when Chandan was gossiping with two of his friends. The accused identified as Sibaram Sethi reached there and started abusing Chandan over old enmity. When Chandan reprimanded him, he took out a knife and stabbed him. When two of his friends came to his rescue, they also faced Sibram’s wrath and were critically hurt.
Getting information, police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured trio to the MKCG Medical College Hospital where doctors declared Chandan dead.
The friends of Chandan are still battling for life. Police have sent the body for postmortem. The accused has been detained and being interrogated. Prima facie investigation revealed that incident is fallout of past enmity, police said.
