In a bizarre incident, a youth was seriously injured after he slashed his tongue in the Maa Tarini Temple at Ghatagaon in Keonjhar district on Saturday with a belief of appeasing the deity for fulfilment of his wishes.
The youth, identified as Dasharathi Jena of the Thakurmunda area in Mayurbhanj district, who had arrived at the temple in morning, slashed his tongue with a blade.
Some servitors of the temple rescued Jena, who was profusely bleeding after cutting his tongue, in a critical condition and admitted him to the Ghatagaon Community Health Centre for treatment. His condition became stable after a minor surgery.
