Youth shot dead in Jharsuguda

A youth was shot dead by some unidentified miscreants at Jharsuguda on Monday. The deceased had been released from jail recently, sources said.

The youth was identified as Md Akram Khan (30) of Telibhata Masjid Square under the Jharsuguda police limits. The miscreants opened fire at Akram when he was returning to his home. The deceased received two bullets, one at his chest and another at upper abdomen.

Though the cause of the firing was yet to be known, police suspected previous enmity as the reason behind the incident. Akram had been involved in eight criminal cases in the district, the police sources said.

“We have started a manhunt to nab the miscreants. Investigation is on to find more clues to establish the identity of accused,” said Superintendent of Police, Jharsuguda, S Shyni.
