In yet another incident of the deteriorating law and order situation in the district, a youth sustained bullet injuries being shot at by unidentified miscreants in Derabish area on Monday night while trying to offer resistance to a loot attempt.
According to sources, the incident occurred at around 10 pm when one Jagannath was busy on a phone call. Spotting him alone on the secluded Laxminarayanpur-Nuahata road, three bike-borne miscreants waylaid him and snatched away his mobile phone.
But when Jagannath tried to offer resistance and chase them, they shot him on his leg and sped away from the spot.
Locals and passersby immediately rescued and rushed him to the hospital.
On being informed, local police reached the spot and registered a case. The incident has triggered panic in the area.
