A 19-year-old youth of Nahana village under the Bari police station in Jajpur district saved two boys from drowning in river Brahmani but was himself swept away in the river on Tuesday.
Jitendra Kumar Das saw Bijaya Sahoo (14), son of Sambunath Sahoo, and Subodha Behera (13), son of Nilamani Behera, drowning in the river while taking bath in the morning. He jumped into the water and saved their lives. But unfortunately, he was swept away in the river water.
Villagers fished out Jitendra’s body from water in the afternoon. Police seized the body and sent it to the local Government hospital for autopsy, said Bari police station Inspector-in-Charge Rojalini Patel.
