A youth of Sundargarh was arrested and forwarded to court on Monday, allegedly for opening a fake account in Facebook in the name of a girl and trying to defame her, with whom he was in one - sided love.
Swarup Kumar Purohit(30), a native of Maheshdihi area of Sundargarh, had met a girl of Samabalpur district, about three years ago, at Acharya Vihar, Bhubaneswar. The girl was reportedly studying there and sharing a room with another girl in a private hostel there, who was a cousin to Purohit. After a couple of casual meetings, Purohit had attempted to develop intimacy with the girl, but during that time, the girl alone had shifted to another hostel. Purohit reportedly had repeatedly attempted to contact her and had proposed her but the girl had rejected. Angry over this, Purohit had threatened her of defaming her and also throwing acid on her face. The girl, however, had ignored it.
Purohit then had opened a fake Facebook account of the girl and reportedly had posted a doctored photo of the girl with him on July 27. After coming to know about the development, the victim girl had lodged a FIR in Sundargarh town police station on July 28.
