Youth not allowed to meet ailing father

A youth, who came all the way from Mumbai to see his terminally-ill father, failed to do so as he was lodged in a quarantine centre.

The statutory period of isolation didn’t allow him to see his father, who was then  undergoing treatment in the District Headquarters Hospital.

While his father died on Thursday night in the DHH, he could  see the body  in  the cremation  ground only before  the pyre was lit.

Amir Behera, the third son  Damodar Behera (60) of Guhalia village under Baunsabania GP of Oupada block  is serving in a private company in  Mumbai.

His father while about 4 years ago was detected with cancer, Amir had got his father treated in the Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital Mumbai for three years.

After receiving treatment  while Damodar returned to his native place  recently,  yet his health condition deteriorated due to  the chronic  ailments. Due to lockdown restrictions, while the family members couldn’t take him to Mumbai and the Acharya Harihar Cancer Institute, Cuttack, he was admitted  in the DHH, Baleswar.

Amir had arrived from Mumbai on Tuesday by train. During the quarantine period, although he pleaded to the local Sarpanch to let him go to see his father, she didn’t allow him. Amir while seeing his father’s body in the cremation  ground broke down lamenting he couldn’t see him alive in the last stage.
