Youth leader to head Ganjam DCC: Bahinipati

Ganjam district was a stronghold of the Congress. People of the district have still trust on the party. However, they have accepted the BJD in fear of police and misuse of government machinery. There is a need of youth leaders for strengthening the party in the district.

Party observer for the district and Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati stated this at a organisational meeting held at the Congress Bhawan here on Friday.

He talked to district and block level leaders and workers and took their opinion for selection of a new chief of the District Congress Committee.

“Even as Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has been representing from Ganjam district to the State Assembly for the last 20 years, yet now development has been witnessed. Drinking water and other basic problems are still there in the city.

To give him a befitting reply, we have to select a youth leader to lead the party in the district,” said Bahinipati.

Earlier, hundreds of workers led by Sanakhemundi MLA Ramesh Jena escorted Bahinipati in procession from circuit house to the Congress Bhawan where leaders like Pitabas Panda, Bhokila Sethi, Sambunath Panigrahi, Sibaram Patro, Dharma Rao, Raj Panigrahi and Anil Parida welcomed him.

Workers and leaders coming from different blocks of the district placed a demand before Bahinipati to make MLA Jena president of Ganjam DCC.
