Political rivalry claimed yet another life in the State on Friday as a youth was killed at Bhadapokharia viilage in Khordha district. The deceased Chitrasena Jena’s body was fished out from a village pond.
Jena’s body was riddled with bullets and also had sharp weapon injuries. The deceased had a long standing feud with another group and it is suspected that his murder might be the handiwork of his rivals.
After the incident, the irate locals ransacked a farmhouse and later torched it. As tension prevailed in the area, three platoons of police forces have been deployed to prevent any further flare-ups. However, locals said during the panchayat elections due to the palpable tension in the area, a police camp was set up. But after it was attacked by some miscreants, it was shifted. Khorda SDPO Harihar Pani said four bullets had pierced the deceased’s body. The police are investigating and the culprits would soon be in the police dragnet.
