An 18-year-old youth was allegedly stabbed to death by his friend following a verbal duel between the two during a feast on Diwali on Wednesday evening.
The deceased was identified as Lipu Sahu, son of Keshab Sahu of Jeranga Dehuri Sahi under the Jarpada police limits in Angul district.
Sources said Lipu had a heated argument with his friend Shrikant Behera over some issues during the feast.
In a fit of rage, Shrikant attacked Lipu with a sharp weapon three times, following which the latter fainted on the ground. Lipu died while being rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital here by his family members.
Later, Shrikant surrendered before the Jarpada police and confessed to his crime.
However, no police official was available to comment on the matter.
