A youth suffered severe burn injuries after he was allegedly attacked with acid by miscreants at Silandi village under the Bant police station of Bhadrak district on Thursday night.
Partha Sarathi Jena was attacked while he was on his way to the Chhenapadi market to purchase medicines for his father. He managed to escape from the spot after the attack and contacted his family members.
Later, Jena was rushed to District Headquarters Hospital. He suffered severe burns in his eyes and face. As his condition deteriorated, he was referred to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack.
The victim alleged involvement of his elder brother and sister-in-law in the incident. He said the attack was fallout of a property dispute and as he had protested against illegal liquor trade in the locality.
