A youth was arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl on the pretext of marriage and duping her later in Mayurbhanj district. The accused Gourang Singh (20), a resident of the Baisinga police station area, has been booked under the POCSO Act on the victim’s complaint.
Gourang had established physical relationship with the girl of his village on the promise of marriage. Later, the girl came to know that he was also in a relationship with one of her cousins and wanted to marry that girl. When she asked him about it, the latter confessed to his physical relationship with her cousin. With no option left, the victim lodged a complaint with police against Gorang.
The Baisinga police have registered a case against the accused under Sections 320 of IPC and 22 of POCSO Act, arrested and forwarded him to a local court on Tuesday.
