A youth from Salepur in Cuttack district has landed in a soup for posting objectionable contents on social media against Prime Minister Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The youth Sayad Hasan Ahmed was arrested by the UP police from Kusumba village under the Salepur police station under Sections 507, 504, 153A and 124A of IPC.

As per reports, an activist of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Baghpat unit, Kuldip Panchal, was receiving threatening calls for past few days. He came across controversial remarks against the Prime Minister, the Uttar Pradesh CM and different organisations such as RSS, VHP and Bajrang Dal on social media.

Panchal then lodged a complaint at the Singhabali police station alleging the unknown caller’s involvement in spreading the controversial remarks.

After registering a case, the police launched a probe and tracked the phone number, from which Panchal was receiving the calls. Following an investigation, the police came to know the calls were being made by Sayad Hasan.

A team of Singhabali police reached Salepur on Thursday night and raided the youth’s house along with the local police. On Friday, the youth was produced in the Salepur JMFC Court and taken on transit remand by the UP police.
