The Commissionerate Police on Thursday rescued a nine-year-old girl from the clutch of a youth who had kidnapped her by offering an anklet in the city. According to reports, the accused identified as Sankar Bhoi (20) of Bhoi Sahi under the laxmi Sagar police limits in the city met the victim, a student of standard fourth, in the morning near Bhimtangi under the Airfield police limits here.
The accused trapped the victim by luring her to offer an anklet which was sent by her father through him. The accused told the minor that her father has bought a pair of anklets which are in his house and asked her to come with her, said a police official. Bhoi convinced her to go with him to his house. They walked around six kilometers and a few commuters spotted both of them near Unit VIII DAV School.
When the passersby asked the accused, he told that the girl is the daughter of his cousin. After seeing suspicious behaviour of the boy, the locals called police and handed him over to the police. The police forwarded him to the court in afternoon. The police suspected that the accused might have taken the girl with an intention to sexually exploit her.
