Police on Saturday arrested a youth for allegedly hurling eggs during the Asthi Kalash Yatra of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee near Chandanpur in the district on Thursday.
The accused was identified as Deepak Mahapatra, a former ward member and a resident of Chandanpur here. later, the police forwarded him to court, following which he was sent to jail as his bail petition was rejected.
Earlier on August 23, the BJP had filed an FIR at the Chandanpur police station in connection with the egg attack. BJP leaders Bhrugu Buxipatra and Pravati Parida had alleged involvement of BJD activists in the incident.
