The Kutra police of Sundargarh district arrested a youth on Wednesday for sexually exploiting a physically-challenged girl and making her pregnant.
After the pregnancy of the girl had come to the fore, the village committee tried to make a settlement but the accused refused to marry the girl and also allegedly maintained that he is not responsible for her pregnancy.
The accused Binod Singh (26) had come in contact with the victim about two years ago and thereafter he had been keeping physical relationship with her promising to marry her.
A few days ago, the father of the victim girl suspected pregnancy of his daughter and when he asked her about it, she told her father about her relationship with Singh. Shocked, he informed the matter to the village committee and urged it for intervention for the marriage of his daughter with the accused.
A meeting of the village committee was convened two days back where the family members of the victim girl and accused, including Singh, were present. In the meeting, Singh refused to marry the girl and told that he had no relationship with her.
