Tension prevailed at Deuli village under the Begunia police station in the district after a youth was hacked to death in broad daylight on Monday morning by local miscreants over suspected old enmity.
The deceased was identified as Chinmaya Sahu. Reports said that Chinmaya was attacked on the village road when he was going to the local market by his motorcycle. Sources said the assailants hacked Chinmaya with sharp weapons and he died on the spot. Soon after the incident, irate locals set the house of a local resident on fire alleging his involvement in the brutal killing.
“My son had left home at around 11 am; and later, one of my relatives informed that he had died in an attack,” said Chinmaya’s mother.
Another relative said that Chinmaya had some enmity with Niranjan Sahu and Narrotam Sahu. “We suspect the involvement of both the siblings in the murder and we want them to be arrested soon,” said Brundaban.
On getting information, the Begunia PS IIC along with other staffs rushed to the spot and started an investigation into the incident.
“We have sent the body for postmortem; and preliminary investigation reveals that the nyouth was murdered over some past rivalry. However, we have started an investigation and are collecting information from the eyewitnesses. The accused involved in the crime, who are now absconding, would be nabbed soon,” said the IIC.
Police forces were deployed in the village to prevent the situation from worsening further.
