Youth gulps poison after robbed of livelihood

He wanted to lead a life with ‘self-sufficiency mantra’. But he ended up with consuming poison after his venture got destroyed and there was no hope to recoup.

He went for pisciculture with a lot of difficulties. He got loans from banks and relatives. He got successful too. But everything got fizzled out due to jealous neighbours and police inaction.

As per information, Maheswar Meli, a youth of Sarala village under Bargarh district, dug a medium pond in his own land and went for successful pisciculture. In the first phase, he made a good income and repaid a portion of the loan too. But neighbours couldn’t tolerate it.

They filled up a portion of the pond with soil to decrease its size. They did it when Maheswar was out of home.  Matter didn’t end here. They put poison in the pond resulting in death of all the fish. This caused to break the very backbone of Maheseswar miserably.

However, he went to the local police station and met the SP of the district also. “But no one listened to my prayer or took any action against the persons who robbed me of my livelihood,” said Maheswar from hospital bed with a heavy heart.

Being totally disheartened, he consumed poison to end his life. However, villagers and family members rushed him to local hospital and then to the VSSIMSAR at Burla where he is struggling for life. This is fate of a youth who wanted to be self sufficient and manage his family.
