A youth, who was glued to his mobile phone while crossing a railway track at Sikharpur in Cuttack city, was run over by a speeding train on Tuesday.As per eyewitnesses, the deceased was talking to someone over the mobile phone with the earphones on. Being unaware of the approaching train, he tried to cross the level crossing following which the train ran over the youth killing him on the spot.
Getting information, Government Railway Police (GRP) reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem and initiated an investigation. The identity of the deceased was yet to be ascertained.
An official said the cell phone and earphone combination is deadly one as it makes it difficult for the user to ascertain how close as a moving train.
