The Special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Court here has sentenced a youth to undergo 20 years’ imprisonment for abducting and raping a minor girl in 2015.
The court found accused Rakesh Mohanty, a resident of Badambadi, and pronounced the verdict. The court also directed the convict to pay a fine Rs 25,000.
The court also ordered payment of a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the victim.
On February 4, 2015, Mohanty had abducted the girl and took her to Puri where he raped her in a lodge. The victim managed to escape from the lodge next day and approached the Mahila police.
