A blood-stained body of a youth was recovered at Pandarapita village under the Sadar police station in Balangir district on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Bhaskar Tandi, a native of the village.
Getting information about the incident, Bhaskar’s family members rushed to the spot and shifted him to the Bhima Bhoi Medical College Hospital. However, Bhaskar was declared dead upon arrival by the doctors at the hospital.
The family members alleged that Bhaskar had an altercation with some people of the village in the morning. Later, he was beaten to death by the same group at night.
Following the incident, police detained a person in connection with the incident and were interrogating him. Further investigation was on.
