A 22-year-old Science graduate, Ashis Das of Manpur under the Aul police station, committed suicide by hanging himself on Monday night as he had lost lakhs of rupees by playing online game after taking money from the family members on various pleas.
This had often led to quarrels between him and his family members several times and the family members had repeatedly asked him to keep away from the game.
When Ashis’ uncle Rajkishore Das on Tuesday morning knocked at the door of his room and Ashis did not reply nor did he open the door, the latter with the help of neighbours broke open the door and found Ashis hanging from the ceiling fan. Ashis was rushed to the Aul CHC for treatment but the doctor declared him dead.
The family members also came across a suicide note in which Ashis had written that recently he had lost money by playing online game. As a result, he remained in mentally disturbed conditions.
Notably, on Sunday, a 26-year-old driver, Debendra Parida of Bhuasini village under the Balikuda police station in Jagatsinghpur district, had committed suicide over the same reason. He had lost about Rs 2 lakh after playing online PUBG game.
