Police on Wednesday detained a youth, who was trying to bribe the Khandapada BDO to provide him a house under the Biju Pakka Ghar Yojana.
The youth entered the office room of the BDO and wanted to bribe him Rs 10,000. The BDO informed police about it. Police reached the BDO office and detained the youth for interrogation, informed Khandapada PS IIC BK Mallick.
But under which circumstances the youth entered the BDO office and tried to bribe the officer has become a topic of discussion. Intellectuals have demanded a probe by the district Collector into the matter.
It is alleged that there is rampant corruption in allocation of houses under the Biju Pakka Ghar Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana by the lower-level officials in different panchayats.
