Youth Cong to protest rising unemployment

The Odish Pradesh Youth Congress has threatened to resort public protest in streets and stop leaders and Ministers of both Centre and State Governments on the issue of rising unemployment in near future.

Addressing a Press conference here, State Youth Congress spokesperson Nalinikant Nayak lambasted both the Modi and Naveen Patnaik Governments for deceiving job-seeking youths even as the unemployment situation has become most acute. “While at least 11 lakh youths have lost jobs in the State up to April 2021, the unemployment rate has reached 23.8per cent and 46 youths in every 100 are jobless and the State has become No. 1 as far as unemployment is concerned,” said Nayak.

He said that though PM Modi had promised to provide two crore jobs every year, the unemployment rate in the country increased at 6.9per cent in July and 8.32per cent in August this year. According to the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy data, 15 lakh people lost jobs in August this year while 32 lakh in July and during April-May 2.27 lakh had lost jobs.
