To hold campaign on Friday
In an attempt to spread awareness on energy conservation, the Ecosavers’ Youth Network in cooperation with the People’s Cultural Centre (PECUC) will hold a campaign ‘Save Fuel, Save Energy’ here on Friday.
Through a Press meet held here on Wednesday, the youth body appealed to people to contribute in the campaign by using cycle or other public transport while commuting to a place. Besides, a poster for the campaign was also released on the occasion.
The youths opined that people have become more obsessed with the use of their own vehicles for going to even nearby places, thereby increasing the rate of fuel consumption to a higher level. This has led to increase in air pollution, road accidents and skin and respiratory diseases in human beings.
Expressing concern over the diminishing natural resources, Network member Shailani Suman said it is high time to start saving fuel and make use of it in a planned and efficient way and explore alternative technologies for the same.
Other members Debraj Nayak, Parameswar Meher, Sushanta Kumar Sahoo, Archana Dash and Srujan Bharadwaj Pati also spoke on the occasion.
