In a sarcastic statement, Utkala Bikasha Juba Parisada would felicitate Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradipta Mohapatra and the district Collectors, who have rejected crop loss and loan burden for as the reasons for massive farmer suicides in the State.
“All opposition parties, media, farmers’ outfits and nonpolitical bodies stated crop loss and loan burden are the main reasons for farmer suicides. I visited three families at Paikamal block in Baragarh district, where the villagers and family members mentioned crop loss and loan burden as the cause of the suicides of their family heads. But the recent Government report straightway rejected the arguments,” Parisada president Debi Prasad Prusti Prusti said.
The SRC report based on concerned Collectors’ findings stated that the reasons are different, which shows the whole State is wrong, he added.
Describing the Collectors and the SRC as mere Government servants and the common man as the master of the Government in a democracy, Prusti mockingly said the servants have examined investigated and discovered the truth; hence they should be rewarded.
The Parisad has decided to felicitate them with Krushak Mitra Satyanishtha Satyabadi Samman at a public function in December, he added.
