Youth bodies condemn retirement age hike

The State Cabinet’s decision on enhancement of the superannuation age of Government employees from 58 years to 60 has been condemned by several youth bodies alleging that the move smacks of BJD Government’s vote politics.

In separate Press briefings, leaders of unemployed ITI Association and All India Youth Federation (AIYF) said the move would further accentuate the problem of unemployment and especially those who are on the verge of upper age ceiling will lose job opportunity for life time as the State Government would not go for any recruitment for next two years.

Though the ruling BJD in its election manifesto always commits for one lakh job for youths every year but the track record reveals that in last fourteen years it has not even created one lakh jobs, alleged the leaders.

They threatened that the youths would give a befitting reply to the BJD Government in coming days.
