The BJP Youth wing activists held a rally and gheraoed the office of the Sub-Collector on Tuesday. In their memorandum, they pressed for a five-point charter of demands, pertaining to widening of road works of State Highway-65 from Khuntuni to Narsinghpur.
Alleging that there is a nexus between the contractor and local politicians, officials and touts to embezzle the funds, they fumed over the slow progress in the road work. They said that the contractor was not performing its task as per the terms and conditions and failed to meet the deadline.
Notably, the road expansion work was targeted to be completed by March 31 last. However, it is still lying incomplete. Even the change of contractor has not borne any results, the BJP Youth leaders said.
They demanded construction of a by-pass from Dorada to Birakisorpur to ease the traffic rush in Athagarh town and repair of broken roads in Athagarh.
