In a horrific incident, an inebriated youth on Wednesday beat his mother to death under the Gurandi police station in Gajapati district on Wednesday.
The deceased woman was identified as Rohini Mallick. Sources said the woman’s younger son Sanjay came home in an inebriated state and after an altercation over some reason, the accused hit her with a wooden shaft. She died at the spot. later, Rohini’s elder son Babuli lodged an FIR with the police.
Based on the FIR, the police have arrested Sanjay and interrogating him to ascertain the motive of the crime. The dastardly act has sent shockwaves among the local residents.
