The State Crime Branch police on Thursday arrested a 23-year-old youth for allegedly uploading and circulating several morphed and obscene and vulgar photographs in Facebook.
A release issued by the police headquarters here said that on the basis of a police complaint, investigation was made following which prima facie evidences were obtained against the Baleswar youth, Gautam Pandit.
Pandit was forwarded to a lower court in Baleswar, from where he was remanded to jail custody. The Crime branch said cases under Sections 465, 469, 506, 509 of IPC and under Sections 66-A, 66-C and 67 of Information Technology (Amended) Act of 2008 were registered against the youth. The release further said the Crime Branch this year has solved as many as five cyber crimes in the State in which all the accused have been arrested.
