Decomposed bodies of a youth and a woman were found hanging from a ceiling fan in a house at Rencha village under the Nimapada police station in the district on Sunday.
Locals detected foul smell emanating from the house and informed the police about it. On opening the door, it was found that a youth, identified as Biswajeet Mohanty (33), and a woman were hanging from the ceiling fan.
Biswajeet’s father Pramod said he had gone to Cuttack five days ago and came to know about the deaths in the house after being informed by neighbours.
“We have recovered the bodies and sent them for postmortem. Investigation into the matter is being carried out to ascertain the reason behind the deaths,” a police official said.
