A young couple consumed poison here in fear of being forcibly separated from each other.
Raj Khan of Korei in Jajpur district was in love with the girl. Both left their homes and were staying in Nangamahal under the Bhadrak Town police limits.
The girl’s family members, who were looking for her, reached Nangamahal on Wednesday to take her back home.
When they tried to take the girl with the help of police, the girl and her lover drank
poison in a bid to commit suicide.
The couple was rushed to the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital in critical conditions.
Till the filing of report on Thursday, their health conditions were still serious.
