He had cultivated paddy in about eight acres of his land apart from growing other crops as a sharecropper. Initially, the crops were good but it was damaged in the outpour which lasted for an hour a few days ago. Dejected after seeing the damage, Kiran went home and consumed poison on Saturday evening. He was rushed to hospital immediately but died on Sunday morning.
Family members of the deceased also said that he was under stress because of his inability to pay back the loans and demanded compensation from the Government.
“He had borrowed Rs2 lakh for farming purpose. Though the crops were in good state but unseasonal rain and thundershower damaged crops totally in five acres of land. He was in deep mental stress how to repay the loan for last two days. Though we tried to convince him, but he consumed poison,” said deceased’s brother Babul.
